A delicious and hearty dish featuring pasta tubes stuffed with a flavorful meat and cheese filling, topped with marinara sauce and melted mozzarella.
Ingredients
- 12 pieces large pasta tubes (such as cannelloni or manicotti)
- 500g ground beef
- 250g ricotta cheese
- 200g mozzarella cheese, shredded
- 50g parmesan cheese, grated
- 500ml marinara sauce
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 medium onion, finely chopped
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 large egg
- 3 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped
- to taste salt
- to taste black pepper
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
Instructions
-
Preheat and Prepare Ingredients: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Cook the pasta tubes according to package instructions until slightly undercooked (al dente). Drain and set aside.
-
Prepare the Meat Filling: In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add chopped onion and garlic, sauté until translucent. Add ground beef; cook until browned. Stir in salt, black pepper, and Italian seasoning. Remove from heat and let it cool slightly.
-
Mix the Cheesy Filling: In a large bowl, combine ricotta cheese, 1 cup of mozzarella, parmesan cheese, parsley, and egg. Mix until well combined. Add the cooled beef mixture to the cheese mixture. Stir until evenly combined.
-
Assemble the Pasta Rolls: Spread some marinara sauce over the bottom of a baking dish. Stuff each pasta tube with the beef and cheese mixture. Place the stuffed tubes in a single layer in the prepared baking dish. Pour the remaining marinara sauce over the pasta rolls, ensuring they are well covered. Sprinkle the remaining mozzarella cheese on top.
-
Bake: Cover the dish with foil and bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 10 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
-
Serving: Let it cool for a few minutes before serving. Garnish with additional chopped parsley if desired.
Notes
- For extra flavor, add a pinch of nutmeg to the ricotta mixture.
- If you like, add some chopped spinach or mushrooms to the filling for added texture and nutrition.
- Adjust seasoning according to taste, and consider using fresh herbs for a more vibrant flavor.
- If you don’t have marinara sauce, use your favorite homemade or store-bought tomato sauce.
