Ingredients

  • 2 cups sugar
  • 3/4 cup cocoa powder
  • 2 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1/2 cup neutral oil
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1 cup hot coffee or hot water
  • 1 cup smooth peanut butter
  • 1/2 cup softened butter
  • 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
  • 23 tbsp milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1 1/2 cups chocolate chips
  • 3/4 cup heavy cream
  • Mini chocolate peanut butter candies (for topping)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Whisk dry cake ingredients.
  3. Add buttermilk, oil, eggs, and vanilla.
  4. Mix in hot coffee.
  5. Divide batter into two 9-inch pans.
  6. Bake for 30–35 minutes.
  7. Cool fully.
  8. Beat peanut butter and butter until creamy.
  9. Add powdered sugar, vanilla, and milk.
  10. Mix until fluffy.
  11. Heat cream, pour over chocolate chips, wait 2 minutes.
  12. Stir to create a silky ganache.
  13. Assemble: Place the first cake layer, spread a thick layer of peanut butter filling.
  14. Add the second layer.
  15. Pour ganache to drip naturally.
  16. Top with candies.
  17. Chill for 15 minutes before slicing.

  • This cake can be stored in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
  • For a richer chocolate flavor, use dark cocoa powder.
