Ingredients

  • 1 lb lean ground beef
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 head of cabbage, chopped (about 4 cups)
  • 1 cup uncooked long-grain white rice
  • 1 cup tomato sauce
  • 1 cup sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 tsp Italian herbs

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a large casserole dish.
  2. In a skillet over medium heat, sauté chopped onions until translucent (about 5 minutes). Add ground beef and garlic; cook until browned (7-10 minutes).
  3. Mix in tomato sauce, rice, salt, pepper, and Italian herbs; simmer briefly.
  4. Layer half the cabbage in the casserole dish, top with half the beef mixture, then repeat.
  5. Sprinkle cheddar on top and bake uncovered for 30-35 minutes until bubbly and golden.
