A hearty and satisfying casserole made with ground beef, rice, and cabbage.
Ingredients

- 1 lb lean ground beef
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 head of cabbage, chopped (about 4 cups)
- 1 cup uncooked long-grain white rice
- 1 cup tomato sauce
- 1 cup sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
- 1/2 cup sour cream
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 tsp Italian herbs
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a large casserole dish.
- In a skillet over medium heat, sauté chopped onions until translucent (about 5 minutes). Add ground beef and garlic; cook until browned (7-10 minutes).
- Mix in tomato sauce, rice, salt, pepper, and Italian herbs; simmer briefly.
- Layer half the cabbage in the casserole dish, top with half the beef mixture, then repeat.
- Sprinkle cheddar on top and bake uncovered for 30-35 minutes until bubbly and golden.
Notes
- This casserole is great for leftovers and can be frozen for later use.
- Feel free to add other vegetables or spices to suit your taste.
