Description
A rich and creamy cinnamon vanilla frosting perfect for topping cupcakes and cakes.
Ingredients
- 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
- 3 cups powdered sugar
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
- 2–4 tablespoons heavy cream
- A pinch of salt
Instructions
- Prep Butter:
Ensure the butter is at room temperature. This helps in achieving a smooth and creamy frosting.
- Mix Butter and Vanilla:
In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened butter with a hand mixer or stand mixer until light and creamy. Add the vanilla extract and mix until well incorporated.
- Combine Dry Ingredients:
In a separate bowl, sift together powdered sugar and ground cinnamon.
- Incorporate Dry Ingredients:
Gradually add the powdered sugar and cinnamon mixture to the creamed butter, one cup at a time, while mixing on a low speed to prevent a sugar cloud. Pause occasionally to scrape down the sides of the bowl.
- Adjust Consistency:
Add heavy cream one tablespoon at a time while continuing to beat the mixture until the frosting reaches your desired consistency. If necessary, add a pinch of salt to balance the sweetness.
- Final Mixing:
Continue beating the frosting on high speed for an additional 2-3 minutes until light and fluffy.
Notes
- Consistency Adjustments: If the frosting is too thick, add more heavy cream. If too thin, add more powdered sugar.
- Flavor Enhancements: For an extra burst of flavor, consider adding a dash of nutmeg or ginger.
- Storage: Store any leftover frosting in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a week. Before reusing, allow it to come to room temperature and beat it again for a few minutes to return to its creamy state.
