Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup guava paste, cut into small pieces
- Powdered sugar for dusting (optional)
Instructions
- Prepare the Dough:
- In a large mixing bowl, cream together butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add the milk, vanilla extract, and salt. Mix until well combined.
- Gradually add the flour, mixing until the dough forms. If the dough is too sticky, add a little more flour as needed.
- Chill the Dough:
- Wrap the dough in plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to make it easier to handle.
- Preheat the Oven:
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Roll out the Dough:
- On a lightly floured surface, roll out the dough to about 1/4-inch thickness.
- Cut the dough into rectangles, roughly 2×4 inches.
- Add the Guava Paste:
- Place a piece of guava paste in the center of each rectangle.
- Fold the dough over the guava, pressing the edges to seal.
- Bake the Pastries:
- Place the pastries on the prepared baking sheet.
- Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden.
- Cool and Serve:
- Allow the pastries to cool on a wire rack.
- Dust with powdered sugar if desired, and serve.
Notes
- For a richer flavor, consider adding a pinch of cinnamon to the dough.
- Ensure your guava paste is soft for easier handling; if it’s too hard, you can warm it slightly in the microwave.
- These pastries store well in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
