Description

Enjoy your delicious homemade guava paste pastries!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup guava paste, cut into small pieces
  • Powdered sugar for dusting (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Dough:
    • In a large mixing bowl, cream together butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
    • Add the milk, vanilla extract, and salt. Mix until well combined.
    • Gradually add the flour, mixing until the dough forms. If the dough is too sticky, add a little more flour as needed.
  2. Chill the Dough:
    • Wrap the dough in plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to make it easier to handle.
  3. Preheat the Oven:
    • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  4. Roll out the Dough:
    • On a lightly floured surface, roll out the dough to about 1/4-inch thickness.
    • Cut the dough into rectangles, roughly 2×4 inches.
  5. Add the Guava Paste:
    • Place a piece of guava paste in the center of each rectangle.
    • Fold the dough over the guava, pressing the edges to seal.
  6. Bake the Pastries:
    • Place the pastries on the prepared baking sheet.
    • Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden.
  7. Cool and Serve:
    • Allow the pastries to cool on a wire rack.
    • Dust with powdered sugar if desired, and serve.

Notes

  • For a richer flavor, consider adding a pinch of cinnamon to the dough.
  • Ensure your guava paste is soft for easier handling; if it’s too hard, you can warm it slightly in the microwave.
  • These pastries store well in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
