A delicious skillet chicken recipe enhanced with lemon and Dijon mustard.

- 4 pieces Chicken Breasts (Use bone-in chicken for added flavor, just adjust the cooking time accordingly.)
- 2 tablespoons Olive Oil (Can substitute with avocado oil.)
- 2 pieces Shallots (Regular onions can be an emergency substitute.)
- 3 cloves Garlic
- 1 cup Chicken Broth (For a vegetarian twist, use vegetable broth.)
- 1 tablespoon Lemon Zest (Essential for brightening the dish.)
- 1 tablespoon Lemon Juice (Don’t skip this for the signature flavor.)
- 1 tablespoon Dijon Mustard (Yellow mustard or vinegar-honey combo can be used as alternatives.)
- 1 tablespoon Honey (Maple syrup can also work well.)
- to taste Salt (Simple seasoning to enhance flavors.)
- to taste Pepper (Simple seasoning to enhance flavors.)
- 1 tablespoon Fresh Parsley (Can replace with thyme or basil, or omit entirely.)
Instructions
- Generously sprinkle salt and pepper on your chicken breasts to enhance the flavor.
- In a large skillet, warm olive oil over medium-high heat. Once hot, carefully add the chicken and cook for 6-7 minutes until golden brown.
- In the same skillet, toss in chopped shallots and minced garlic. Sauté for about 2 minutes until translucent.
- Pour in the chicken broth, scraping the bottom of the pan. Let it simmer for a few minutes.
- Stir in lemon zest, fresh lemon juice, Dijon mustard, and honey. Allow the sauce to simmer for 3-4 minutes until it thickens.
- Return the chicken to the skillet, nestling it in the sauce. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes.
- Finally, sprinkle fresh parsley over the top before serving.
Notes
- This dish can be served with rice or vegetables for a complete meal.
- Feel free to use dried herbs if fresh are not available.
