Description

A delicious twist on the classic burger featuring pancakes instead of buns, creating a satisfying and unique meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups buttermilk
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/4 cup melted butter
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 6 slices cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup sliced pickles
  • 1/2 cup tomato relish or ketchup
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter (for cooking)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Pancake Batter: In a large bowl, mix flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. In another bowl, whisk together buttermilk, eggs, and melted butter. Combine wet and dry ingredients, stirring until just combined. Set aside.
  2. Cook the Pancakes: Heat a griddle or large non-stick pan over medium heat and lightly grease with butter. Pour 1/4 cup batter onto the griddle for each pancake. Cook until bubbles form on the surface, then flip and cook until golden. Repeat to make about 6 pancakes. Set aside.
  3. Prepare the Burger Patties: In a bowl, combine ground beef, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Divide into 3 equal portions and shape into patties. Heat a skillet over medium-high heat. Cook patties for 3-4 minutes on each side or until desired doneness. Add a slice of cheddar cheese on top during the last minute of cooking to melt.
  4. Assemble the Savory Stack: Place one pancake on a plate. Add a beef patty with melted cheese, a tablespoon of tomato relish, and a few slices of pickle. Repeat layers: another pancake, another patty with cheese, relish, and pickles. Top with the final pancake. Press gently and cut into stacks for serving.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, add sliced onions or bacon between layers.
  • Use a non-stick griddle for evenly cooked pancakes.
  • Substitute cheddar with any cheese of choice, like Swiss or Monterey Jack, for different flavor profiles.
