Description
A deliciously seared ribeye steak with fresh herbs and butter.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 ribeye steak (1-inch thick, approximately 12 oz)
- 1 tsp coarse sea salt
- ½ tsp freshly cracked black pepper
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 2 sprigs fresh rosemary or thyme
- 1 tbsp unsalted butter
Instructions
- Let the ribeye sit at room temperature for 30 minutes before cooking.
- Generously season both sides with salt and pepper.
- Preheat a cast-iron skillet or grill over medium-high heat until hot.
- Add olive oil to the pan or grill grates to prevent sticking.
- Sear the steak for 4–5 minutes without moving it to form a crust.
- Flip the steak, add herbs and butter on top, and baste while cooking for another 3–4 minutes for medium-rare doneness.
- Rest the steak for at least five minutes before slicing to retain juiciness.
Notes
- For added flavor, let the steak marinate for a few hours before cooking.
- Adjust cooking time based on preferred doneness.
