Description

Ingredients

  • 1 ribeye steak (1-inch thick, approximately 12 oz)
  • 1 tsp coarse sea salt
  • ½ tsp freshly cracked black pepper
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 sprigs fresh rosemary or thyme
  • 1 tbsp unsalted butter

Instructions

  1. Let the ribeye sit at room temperature for 30 minutes before cooking.
  2. Generously season both sides with salt and pepper.
  3. Preheat a cast-iron skillet or grill over medium-high heat until hot.
  4. Add olive oil to the pan or grill grates to prevent sticking.
  5. Sear the steak for 4–5 minutes without moving it to form a crust.
  6. Flip the steak, add herbs and butter on top, and baste while cooking for another 3–4 minutes for medium-rare doneness.
  7. Rest the steak for at least five minutes before slicing to retain juiciness.
