Description

Delicious rolls filled with cream cheese and fresh blueberries, perfect for dessert or a sweet treat!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 package store-bought puff pastry (or homemade)
  • 1 cup fresh blueberries
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 egg (for egg wash)
  • 1 tablespoon water
  • Powdered sugar (for dusting)
  • A pinch of salt
  • Optional: Lemon zest for added flavor

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Filling: In a medium bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, sugar, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt. Mix until smooth and creamy. Gently fold in the blueberries and, if using, the lemon zest. Set aside.
  2. Prepare the Puff Pastry: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Roll out the puff pastry on a lightly floured surface into a rectangle. Spread the cream cheese and blueberry mixture evenly over the pastry, leaving a small border along the edges.
  3. Roll and Shape: Carefully roll the pastry into a tight log, starting from the long side. Seal the edges by brushing a beaten egg mixed with water along the seam. Slice the rolled pastry into 1 to 1.5-inch sections.
  4. Bake: Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and place the sliced rolls on it, leaving space for expansion. Brush the tops of the rolls with the egg wash. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.
  5. Finish: Remove from the oven and let cool slightly. Dust with powdered sugar before serving.

Notes

  • Ensure the cream cheese is properly softened for a smooth mixture.
  • Use cold puff pastry for easier handling and better results.
  • For a sweeter touch, drizzle with a simple icing made from powdered sugar and milk.
  • Substitute blueberries with any other berry based on preference or availability.
