Description
Delicious crispy wonton tacos filled with savory chicken and fresh ingredients.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 package wonton wrappers (You can substitute with Halal-friendly wrappers or rice paper for gluten-free.)
- 2 cups cooked chicken, shredded (Any leftover chicken can be used.)
- 3 tablespoons soy sauce
- 3 pieces green onions, chopped
- ¼ cup cilantro, chopped
- 1 piece lime, juiced
- to taste Salt and pepper
- for frying oil
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine the shredded chicken with soy sauce, green onions, cilantro, lime juice, and a sprinkle of salt and pepper. Mix thoroughly until everything is well incorporated.
- Carefully hold a wonton wrapper in your hand. Spoon about a tablespoon of the chicken mixture into the center. Moisten the edges of the wonton with a drop of water, fold it in half, and pinch the edges to seal. You can also form it into a taco shape if desired.
- In a deep pan or large skillet, pour in enough oil for frying (about 1-2 inches deep) and heat over medium-high heat until shimmering.
- Carefully add the wonton tacos to the hot oil in batches. Fry for 2-4 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and crispy. Use a slotted spoon to transfer the fried tacos to a plate lined with paper towels to drain any excess oil.
- Arrange the tacos on a platter and serve with your favorite toppings. Enjoy the admiration from family and friends!
Notes
- For a gluten-free option, use rice paper instead of wonton wrappers.
- Any type of cooked chicken can be used for this recipe, making it perfect for leftovers.
