Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line two baking sheets with parchment paper or silicone baking mats for easy cleanup.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
- In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened butter and granulated sugar together until light and fluffy—about 2 to 3 minutes. This step is crucial for that perfect chewy texture.
- Beat in the egg, then add the vanilla extract, orange juice, and orange zest. The dough will smell incredible already—fragrant, floral, and citrusy.
- Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until everything is fully combined. The dough will be soft but not sticky.
- Using a cookie scoop or tablespoon, drop spoonfuls of dough onto your prepared baking sheets, spacing them about 2 inches apart. Bake for 10–12 minutes, or until the edges are just starting to turn golden. The centers should still look slightly soft—that’s how you get that dreamy, chewy center.
- Let cookies cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack. If desired, whisk together powdered sugar and orange juice to make a glaze, and drizzle it over the cooled cookies.
