Description

A delicious recipe for savory meatballs served with creamy mashed potatoes.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef or a mix of beef and pork
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup onion, finely chopped
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil (for frying)
  • 2 lbs potatoes, peeled and cubed
  • 1/2 cup milk (for mashed potatoes)
  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • Salt and pepper to taste (for mashed potatoes)
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
  • Gravy or sauce of your choice

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Meatballs:
    1. In a large bowl, mix breadcrumbs and milk. Let it sit for a few minutes until absorbed.
    2. Add ground meat, beaten egg, minced garlic, chopped onion, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper to the breadcrumb mixture.
    3. Mix until well combined.
    4. Shape the mixture into small meatballs, about 1 inch in diameter.
  2. Cook the Meatballs:
    1. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat.
    2. Add meatballs and cook until browned on all sides and cooked through, about 10-12 minutes.
    3. Remove meatballs from the skillet and set aside.
  3. Prepare the Mashed Potatoes:
    1. In a large pot, cover potatoes with cold water and add a pinch of salt.
    2. Bring to a boil and cook until potatoes are tender, about 15-20 minutes.
    3. Drain the potatoes and return them to the pot.
    4. Add milk and butter to the potatoes, then mash until smooth.
    5. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  4. Assemble and Serve:
    1. Place a generous scoop of mashed potatoes on each plate.
    2. Top with meatballs.
    3. Drizzle with your choice of gravy or sauce.
    4. Garnish with chopped parsley.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, consider adding herbs such as thyme or oregano to the meatball mixture.
  • Ensure not to overmix the meatball mixture to keep them tender.
  • For a creamier mash, you can replace half of the milk with cream.
  • Serve with a side of steamed vegetables for a complete meal.
